Newsletter CPM rates by niche in 2026 — and why finance pays 4× lifestyle

Sponsorship CPMs aren't a quality score — they're a downstream reflection of what the sponsor earns from one converted reader. A broker's customer might be worth thousands; a snack brand's, a few pounds. That's the whole mystery of the niche table, up front.

The 2026 ranges

NicheTypical CPM
Finance / investing$50–120
B2B / SaaS$40–75
Marketing / creator economy$30–70
Developer / technical$25–60
Lifestyle / general interest$15–35

Ranges compiled from 2026 sponsorship-market guides; individual deals land all over them, and small lists with unusually tight niches (say, 2,000 procurement managers) can beat their category's ceiling because targeting is the product.

Where you sit inside your range

Four things justify the top half: click rate (sponsors quietly convert your open rate into expected clicks — a 4% CTR list is worth double a 2% one at the same size); list hygiene (engaged-90-days counting, no purchased names — sponsors ask); scarcity (one ad per issue prices higher than three); and proof (a renewing sponsor is the strongest rate card there is — say so in your kit).

Reading the spread as strategy

If you're starting a newsletter partly for sponsorship revenue, the table is also a planning document: the same 10,000 engaged readers are worth roughly $150–350 an issue in lifestyle and $500–1,200 in finance. That doesn't mean write about finance — it means niches with expensive customer values monetise smaller lists, and audience-first projects should know their niche's number before choosing patience levels.

Price your list against the table: the free sponsorship calculator applies these ranges to your subscriber and open-rate numbers, per slot type.

Ranges reflect 2026 guides and move with the ad market; verify against current sponsor conversations. Not financial advice.
